01Who we are

This Privacy Policy explains how MewGem LLC (“MewGem,” “we,” “us”), a company based in the United States, collects, uses and shares personal information when you use mewgem.net, My MewGem (mewgem.me), MewGem Desktop, our events, and our support channels (the “Services”).

It doesn’t cover third-party services such as Discord, or apps other developers build on MewGem. Those have their own policies. Words like “Services” have the same meaning as in our Terms of Service.

03Information collected automatically

• Device and log data: IP address, browser and operating system, app version (for MewGem Desktop), pages and features used, timestamps, and error logs.
• Cookies, sessions and local storage: used to keep you signed in, remember your settings and keep your account secure. These are needed for the Services to work.
• Website analytics and ads measurement: the mewgem.net homepage uses the Google Ads tag to measure how well our ads work. Google may set cookies and receive your IP address and browser information.
• Fonts: mewgem.net loads fonts from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address when the page loads.

04Information from others

• Other users can create information about you. For example, they might send you friend requests, add you to an organization, check you in at an event, mention you, or report you.
• Stripe tells us whether a payment succeeded, and gives us limited billing details such as card brand and last four digits.
• Event hosts and venues may share attendance or incident information with us for events on MewGem.

05How we use information

• To run MewGem: create and secure your account, show your profile and content, run spaces, organizations, events, check-in, memberships, redeem codes, the Vendor Program and the Developer Portal.
• To keep people safe: enforce our Terms and Community Rules, review reports and appeals, detect spam, fraud, abuse and ban evasion (including alternate accounts), and protect the security of the Services.
• To process payments: manage subscriptions, receipts and billing issues.
• To communicate: send service messages such as security alerts, receipts, event updates and vendor or developer application decisions. We also send news if you’ve opted in, and you can unsubscribe at any time.
• To support you: answer your questions through the support center, email, phone or Discord.
• To improve MewGem: understand which features people use, fix bugs, and measure our marketing.
• To meet legal obligations: keep records we’re required to keep and respond to lawful requests.

06What other people can see

• Your profile (username, display name, avatar and bio) is visible to other MewGem users.
• Your posts are visible to whoever can view the space you post in. Space owners and moderators can see and moderate content in their space.
• Event hosts can see who RSVPed to and checked in at their events. Tournament results may be shown publicly.
• Organization managers can see their organization’s members and activity.
• Apps you authorize receive the data covered by the scopes you approve.

Think before you share. Anything you post publicly can be seen, saved or shared by others.

07How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only in these situations:

• Service providers that help us run MewGem. This includes hosting and database providers, Stripe (payments), Google (ads measurement and fonts) and email delivery providers. They may use your information only to provide services to us.
• Other users, event hosts and apps, as described in “What other people can see.”
• For safety and legal reasons: to comply with the law or a valid legal request, to protect the rights, safety and property of our users, MewGem or the public, or to investigate fraud or abuse.
• Business transfers: if MewGem is involved in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, your information may transfer. It will stay subject to this policy’s protections.
• With your consent, or when you ask us to share it.

08How long we keep it

• We keep your account information and content for as long as your account is active, and for no longer than 6 years unless the law requires otherwise.
• When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal information within 60 days. We may keep limited records for longer where we have to, such as payment records for tax purposes, records of bans to prevent ban evasion, or records needed for an open investigation or legal claim.
• Content you shared with others, such as messages, may stay visible to them. Copies in our backups are removed as the backups are replaced.

09Your choices and rights

• Edit your profile and settings at any time in My MewGem.
• Delete your account from your settings, or ask us to do it.
• Revoke app access for any third-party app you’ve connected.
• Unsubscribe from marketing emails using the link in the email. You’ll still get essential service messages.
• Control cookies through your browser settings, and manage Google ads personalization at adssettings.google.com. Blocking essential cookies will sign you out.

Depending on where you live (for example, the EEA, the UK or California), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or get a portable copy of your personal information. You may also be able to object to or restrict certain processing, and to opt out of “sharing” for targeted advertising. To make a request, contact contact@mewgem.net. We’ll verify your identity and respond within one month. We won’t treat you differently for exercising your rights.

10Children

MewGem is not for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from them. Users aged 13 to 17 need a parent or guardian’s permission. If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal information, contact us and we’ll delete it.

11Security

We use encrypted connections (HTTPS), access controls, and staff-only tools to protect your information, and payments are handled by Stripe. No system is perfectly secure, so we can’t guarantee absolute security. Use a strong, unique password and keep your developer client secrets private. If we learn of a breach that affects you, we’ll notify you as required by law.

12International users

MewGem is based in the United States, and your information is processed there and wherever our service providers operate. Those countries’ data protection laws may differ from yours. Where the law requires it, we use appropriate safeguards for these transfers.

For users in the EEA and UK, we rely on these legal bases: contract (to provide the Services), legitimate interests (safety, security, improvement and measuring our marketing), consent (where we ask for it, such as optional emails), and legal obligation.

13Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as MewGem changes. We’ll update the “Last updated” date and, for significant changes, let you know in the app or by email.
